Friends of Burrendong Arboretum : Active Members Needed

As volunteer numbers dwindle, the Friends are urgently looking for more active members to assist us in supporting Burrendong Botanic Garden And Arboretum in fulfilling its mission of “conserving and displaying native plants from all over Australia for the preservation of species diversity and the enjoyment and education of the community”. We undertake many diverse activities including:

  • Helping to maintain beds and planting out new plants;
  • Establishing the "Regional Flora Collection", a long term project by FOBA to undertake field trips to collect representative regional flora from all around the Central West, propagate it and plant it out in the established display area by regions;
  • Propagating plants for sale in the Arboretum's nursery;
  • Organising functions, festivals, workshops, displays, plant sales and the like to promote the Arboretum and raise additional funding;
  • Providing free guided tours of the Arboretum including to special interest and school groups;
  • Liaising with local educational institutions regarding the educational use of the facilities;
  • Providing a significant portion of the Arboretum's annual funding through management of our financial portfolio
