Council plans special morning in Hawks Nest

Great Lakes Council (GLC) is organising a morning of dune stabilisation and planting in the Hawks Nest area on 6 August.

The council says that with the recent rains and cooler weather, it is a good time to do this.

The dune stabilisation will start at Bennett’s Beach.

Eucalypts for koala food will be planted along Sanderling Avenue. If the trees are not available from the nursery, another planting day will be arranged.

The GLC has thanked Bitou Buster Anne Haskew, who has completed a detailed list of all the trees on Sanderling Avenue.

The John Davis memorial plaque will be installed on Sanderling Avenue. John was the GLC tree officer who was very supportive of the koala habitat in Hawks Nest. He also instigated the avenue of Koala food trees along Sanderling Avenue.

Bitou Busters are reminded to bring along their tools, gloves and hats.

The GLC will be supplying their famous morning tea.
