Great Lakes Soil Health Group

Landholders working together to protect and enhance our foundational agricultural resource

Great Lakes district landholders working together to protect and enhance our key agricultural resource, the soil.

Objectives

-          Improve the knowledge and capability to manage soil health in the landholder community

-          Prevent soil erosion and degradation on our properties

-          Monitor, evaluate and improve the health of our soils over time

The Group meets at members' properties every 2 months, sharing experiences and conducting Rapid Assessment of Soil Health tests, and regularly hosts guest speakers. With the support of Hunter Local Land Services, members have access to soil monitoring equipment and a microscope.
